You've decided to visit us. Brilliant! What can you expect as we welcome you here?
A little context
Our building was opened in 1981. It was built by Hope and Aldridge Ltd, at a cost of approximately £70,000. We started meeting there in September 2001, after the previous church (Milby Evangelical) closed. We had met in three different places before then.
Our building is used regularly throughout the week by community groups and our own church groups. It is also a Polling Station for Borough, County and Westminster Elections.
Please wear what you feel most comfortable with when you join us, as there is no dress code. Some people who attend prefer formal, whilst others enjoy being and looking casual. We are always happy to pray for people and the situations they are currently facing. Simply let us know. An offering tends to be taken at most services, but please do not feel obliged to give financially. Let 'the bag' go past you. Most people who attend regularly give through a standing order. Usually there will be someone in our foyer who will greet you before a Service begins. They can answer any questions you have or you can contact John, our Minister, if you want to know more. (Contact details are at the bottom of this page.)
Building Accessibility
Our building is very easy to access if you have a wheelchair, a mobility scooter, a walker or a pram as our front entrance is step free. If you are coming by car, there is a car park at the rear of our building. However, if you can't walk far there is space at the front of the building for at least two cars which you are welcome to use. There is gravel at the side and front of our building.
There is a disabled toilet next to our Small Hall and other toilets in our foyer.
We have a hearing loop in our Main Hall.
If you have special requirements, then if you let us know that you are intending to come, we will do our best to help your time with us be a positive and encouraging one.
Sunday Morning Service
We meet together every Sunday morning from 11.00am to around 12.15pm. Many will start arriving from 10.30am for a free cup of coffee or tea and a chat with others. Generally we'll have a song, a Bible Reading and then a Talk which will last for about thirty minutes. After this there will be time to respond with a mixture of recent and older songs, which are often lively, together with a time of prayer. Everyone is encouraged to take part in this Service as much as they wish. Some may give a testimony about what God has done recently, others might pray a short prayer or describe something that God is encouraging them to share. Some might just sit and observe for the whole time, but most will seek to worship God wholeheartedly through song and spoken word. We take Communion together on the first Sunday of every month. Generally we get up to around forty people attending this Service most weeks.
Activities for children have recently restarted in a small way after the COVID Lockdowns. Please ask for more details.
From time to time we hold Baptism Services. There is a baptistry in the floor of our Main Hall.
Traditional Sunday Evening Service
These occur on the first and third Sundays of each month from 6.00pm to around 6.50pm. There is always a printed Order of Service, which contains all the hymns we will be using that evening, together with two Bible Readings and the prayer responses. The Sermon usually lasts for around ten minutes at this Service. We take Communion together on the first Sunday of each month. You are welcome to get as involved as little or as much as you wish. At the end many of us stay for a free cup of coffee or tea and a chat. Generally we get up to around twenty people attending this Service each time it occurs.
Refocus
This takes place on the fourth Sunday of each month from 5.00pm to around 6.00pm. People are very much encouraged to participate in song, prayer and Bible-reading, but it is also fine just to sit, relax and take in what is going on without having to do anything outwardly. This meeting is hardly scripted at all. We start with a few songs focussing on God and then we go from there. There isn't a formal Talk when we meet together to Refocus.
Ecumenical
If there is a fifth Sunday in the month, then people from many churches in Nuneaton will meet together in the evening. Details of the time and venue of these Services will be announced with plenty of notice so that you can attend if you wish.
COVID?
We seek to look after everyone who enters our building. COVID is a risk we still take seriously. Whilst people attending our services and meetings have not needed to wear a face mask since 20th February 2022, there is plenty of ventilation with some doors and windows being open. People are encouraged to be jabbed and to not attend if they are positive or have symptoms. There is hand sanitiser in our foyer.
